19th March 2016 Adult Channels on Sky Television The Adult Channels on Sky Television "There is no such thing as beauty, especially in the human face… what we call the physiognomy. It’s all a mathematical and imagined alignment of features. Like, if the nose doesn’t stick out too much, the sides are in fashion, if the earlobes aren’t too large, if the hair is long… It’s kind of a mirage of generalization. People think of certain faces as beautiful, but, truly, in the final measure, they are not. It’s a mathematical equation of zero." - Charles Bukowski So i've just been watching the adult channels on Sky TV (i.e. some 'hot babes' enticing the viewer to call in for some phone sex) and what struck me is how similar they all are. There seems to be a 'hot babe' look, and the girls change positions every half hour or so, and they might as well not bother, because they all look the same. Have we somehow forgotten that it's the uniquely individual features of a face where true beauty lies? Or has 'Nuts' magazine (& the like) managed to de-construct & standardise a very narrow version of beauty, & effectively wedge it deep within our voice neutered throats? To me (a cake lover), The Great British Bake Off Springs to mind - 'cakes' that are so creepily perfect, that they say nothing of the gorging collapsing mess & delirious chin-cream-splatter that is cake to me. To Horny Harold (a pervy horticultural associate of mine) it's the "sanitised Stepford Plants of The Chelsea Flower Show", which i vividly remember him ranting against last summer. But do you see the point i'm getting at here? The idea of beauty de-constructed & sanitised to the point where it's just not attractive any more. A song lyric for you : "Perfect is a fault, & fault-lines change...". Does this somehow highlight the paradoxical nature of perfection (& henceforth 'perfect beauty' itself)? This idea has been explored by photographer Nadav Kander, in his portraits of the apparently most "technically beautiful faces" (in terms of symmetrical alignment of features etc). And annoyingly i can't find the article i read about the work now. But anyhow, here is one of the photographs from that series : https://s-media-cache-ak0. Does those women strike you as beautiful? Or sexy? Or neither or both? (I do have a very personal opinion here, but i want to hear what you think). And is beautiful always sexy? What is it about people who do not conform to any conventionally spurious aesthetic notions of attractiveness, who you still just want to, well...fuck the living daylights out of? Is it the dimple in their cheeks when they smile? A glint in the eye? Or a certain poise in how they carry themselves, & the inexplicably sensual buzz of their presence? Anyhow, talk to me people...tell me what your phwoor-factor(s) are. Personally i love looking & lusting after what i find beautiful & sexy (in both sexes), and would love to compare notes. |
