What normal civilian women find attractive in a man

I take great pleasure in helping clients find their feet in the mysterious world of love and romance. One of the questions I am asked is 'what do women find attractive in a man?' Please, sit back and let me explain.

1. Tall, dark and handsome is a stereotype often quoted, but how true is it? Well studies show that women are attracted to taller men, as a height advantage embodies masculinity. Women's preference for taller men goes back to prehistoric times where taller men would have a physical advantage in a confrontation, allowing protection of her and her offspring. 2. A sense of humour! If you can make her laugh, she will be eating out of your hands! In fact, a sense of humour can make a man seem more intelligent, meaning a greater ability to look after and protect her offspring. Women love it when guys don't take things so seriously, so the next time you spill tomato sauce down your shirt, turn it into a joke.

3. Guys who lead the way and can plan ahead make a woman feel cared for and protection. One of the most attractive qualities in a man is the ability to follow through with what he says he will do. So no more procrastinating guys!

4. Alongside point 3 is passion and ambition. Seeing a man who pursues his dreams wholeheartedly allows women to see how enthusiastically he pursues other things, such as a relationship. So pick a hobby or career you really enjoy, and show us your passion.

5. A good dress style is important to women. Being well dressed and groomed means you will also feel good about yourself. It doesn't necessarily mean wearing an expensive Saville row suit, although personally I find men in suits hot. Just be clean and comfortable, and please, no body odour!

6. Women love a man who listens, because they feel valued and respected. Do ask lots of questions about what she is saying, which shows you are actively listening, and allows your brain to store the information. You might need this later on for an extra brownie point!

7. Kindness is a trait that attracts women. In fact, men who are dog owners tend to attract more women than those without. However, if you are not into animals, or don't have the time, simple gentleman-like gestures work wonders too, such as holding the doors open for her; it shows you are thinking about the needs of others.
Above all, be confident (not arrogant, there's a fine line between the two) and you will be a sure fire hit with the ladies.
